INTRODUCTION
In this episode of the Resilient Lineage Podcast, Milo and Olivia dive into the story of Elijah after his historic victory on Mount Carmel. Discover how spiritual highs can quickly turn into valleys of exhaustion, loneliness, and fear, and how God meets us in despair to offer restoration, hope, and direction.

How do you get to a place where you make an agenda for God?

  • Exhaustion - physical, mental, and spiritual exhaustion overtake you

  • Loneliness - Elijah is alone when he considers death as his next option

  • Fear - Elijah was running from his life due to the bounty Queen Jezebel had put on his head

  • Despair - despair creates a bias that says, the best is in the past, the future only holds pain and death

How do you hear God’s plan for you?

  • Take the strength God’s has for you (1 Kings 19:5-8)
For Elijah, that strength came in the form of sleep and food prepared by an angel. All three of those things address his physical, mental, and spiritual exhaustion. Take inventory of where you are exhausted and discover how God wants you to recover your strength in those areas.

  • Go to the place where God speaks (1 Kings 19:5-8)
Elijah went to Mount Horeb which is the place where Moses encountered God at the burning bush and where the 10 commandments were given. God’s word and the testimony of others are sources for us to hear God’s voice

  • Listen for God’s voice (1 King 19:12-13)
many people want to experience God in the drama of wind, earth quakes, and fire. But it is often in the stillness of non-dramatic moments that God will be heard. Big dramatic moments with great music and a powerful preacher are nice, but the quiet place of your personal devotions is a powerful place to hear from the Lord.

  • Take your next step in obeying God (1 Kings 19:15-16)
Elijah’s next step was to walk in his authority by anointing two kings and a new prophet that would reset the religious landscape in Israel. God has anointing on your life that will usher in a part of his Kingdom to the places where you carry responsibility.

CONCLUSION
Despite how exhausted, lonely, fearful, and despairing you are, God has a path forward for you. And it is filled with good things that are difficult to imagine today.
