INTRODUCTION
Does God see you as a warrior? Milo and Olivia launch a new series that explores the warrior mindset and how a systematic approach to living positions us for the victory God intends.

Are You A Warrior?
As a warrior do you view yourself as…

  • Watchful
1 Peter 5:8-9 - “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith.”

  • Well Armed
Ephesians 6:11-13 - “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.”

  • Armed to Fight
1 Timothy 6:12 - “Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”

  • Armed to Destroy
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 - “For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.”

  • Authoritative
James 4:7 - “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

  • Victorious
Romans 8:37 - “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

Traits of the Spiritual Enemy

  1. The Evil One

    • The enemy is the instigator of all evil, opposing all that is good and holy

    • “But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.” (2 Thessalonians 3:3)

  2. The Deceiver

    • Satan actively works to mislead, spread lies, and create confusion.

    • “…the deceiver of the whole world…” (Revelation 12:9)

  3. The Accuser

    • The enemy attacks believers by bringing up guilt, shame, and condemnation.

    • “…the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down…” (Revelation 12:10)

  4. The Tempter

    • The enemy seeks to draw Christians away from God through temptation.

    • “And the tempter came and said to him…” (Matthew 4:3)

  5. The Destroyer

    • The enemy’s ultimate aim is ruin and destruction for individuals and communities.

    • “…his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek he is called Apollyon (Destroyer).” (Revelation 9:11)

  6. The Adversary

    • The enemy is always active, hostile, and relentless in opposing those who follow Christ.

    • “Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)

  7. The Pretender / Masquerader

    • The enemy appears righteous to deceive and mislead

    • “For even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” (2 Corinthians 11:14)

  8. The Prince/Ruler of This World

    • Satan exerts real authority and influence over worldly systems and values

    • “Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out.” (John 12:31)

CONSEQUENCES OF NOT SEEING MYSELF AS A WARRIOR OR NOT IDENTIFYING THE ENEMY

  1. Vulnerable to Spiritual Attack

    • Without a warrior mindset, Christians are less prepared for spiritual warfare, making them more susceptible to distraction, temptation, and defeat by spiritual forces.

    • Complacency can lead to spiritual casualties—loss of purpose, peace, and even faith among oneself and those influenced by their example.

  2. Under-formed Qualities needed for victory

    • The process of becoming a warrior develops critical traits such as discipline, humility, vigilance, and endurance.

    • Forfeiting this path means spiritual stagnation, perpetual immaturity, and struggling to maintain faithfulness.

  3. Missed Opportunities and Power

    • Not embracing this identity means missing out on the strength, confidence, and authority given by God for protection, deliverance, and victory over challenges.

    • A passive or defeated attitude forfeits the spiritual growth, maturity, and impact that come from actively engaging in God’s spiritual battle.

  4. Neglected Kingdom Responsibility and Diminished Kingdom Impact

    • Without a warrior’s outlook, Christians may neglect their responsibility to protect, serve, and intercede for others, failing to advance the kingdom of God or defend against injustice.

    • Silence or inaction in the face of evil is itself a form of compromise; warriors are called to actively resist darkness and support God’s truth.

OVERVIEW OF THE WARRIOR MINDSET
The warrior mindset is centered on Jesus and looks to him as the source of transformation through grace. It employs a systematic approach to living that promotes sustained growth and perseverance, especially through adversity.

Four Stages to this mindset

  1. Commitment

  2. Preparation

  3. Execution

  4. Reflection
