Catching Up

Friends & Family,

A lot has changed since we last emailed, and we want to let you know what is new in our world. Below you’ll see an update from each family member along with a link to a new podcast Milo & Olivia have launched.

How are you doing? We’d love to hear from you via email or Facebook.

FROM MILO
Back in October, I completed my tour on the USS PORTER (DDG 78). Over the course of 22 months, I deployed twice and spent over 357 days away from home. My time serving this command was nothing short of incredible. I’m humbled by the experience to serve our Sailors at sea…and grateful to be home for an extended period of time. I am now serving as an instructor at the Navy Service Support Training Command in Virginia Beach, VA. Alongside three other instructors, we teach Advanced Warrior Toughness, a training program designed to optimize the mind, body, and soul for peak performance. Commands on the east coast send their leadership to this course to acquire valuable tools and skills, which they can then implement throughout their command.

On the home front, Olivia and I are excited to be launching our new podcast! See the end of this email for details.

FROM BETHANY
My spring bulbs are pushing through the soil, signaling Springtime is just around the corner and reminding me that our God is trustworthy and true. He is holding each season together for our well being. (Psalm 104).

These past several months have been fun for me. Andrew was home for 7 weeks for his Winter Break. Olivia has started her final high school semester at Western Branch High School, and Milo is home every night for dinner. I’m soaking in these days together.

For the past 15 months I have been working part-time at our local Cracker Barrel Retail Store: cashiering, replenishing displays, and unboxing weekly trucks into the stockroom. I’ve learned a ton, met some great ladies, and have a community to love on and bless with my time and resources. This season in life hasn’t always looked like this, and it won’t always be like it in the future, but God is the same and promises to walk with me each day, to live a life of influence wherever I find myself. I’ve recently found encouragement in Mother' Teresa’s words, “I can do things you cannot do. You can do things I cannot do. Together we can do great things.”

FROM ANDREW
I’m currently a sophomore at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA. I’m majoring in accounting, plugged into a great church, and volunteering at the on-campus Bible Study that takes place mid-week. My current hobby is making videos for YouTube, primarily on my channel “Pub ’n Fig.” There, I provide a recap and summaries of the Marvel universe for folks who are about to see a new Marvel movie or launch into a new Disney+ series. You can find a link to my stuff HERE.

FROM OLIVIA
I am currently a senior at Western Branch High School! I spend most of my time at school, work, and church. I currently co-lead a high school girl’s Bible Study on Tuesday nights, help lead at the church youth group on Wednesday nights, and attend Bible Club at school first thing Wednesday mornings. In addition, I’m working at Chik-fil-A. I am also a regular babysitter for some Navy families in the area. Needless to say, a family-shared calendar has come in handy. This fall, I plan on attending Regent University to study marketing and minor in Biblical studies.

My Dad and I are also doing a weekly podcast! See details below.

Resilient Lineage is a weekly podcast that reflects on the past, anticipate the future, and discover what God is up to today. This dad (Milo) and daughter (Olivia) duo look to Scripture to understand how to navigate the opportunities and the obstacles that exist today.
